Author’s Note
“This is yet another ‘You are Gordon Freeman and must escape Black Mesa’ episode with some really random title, but I still hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.”
“Initially this was created for a single player episode contest at thewall.de. The goal was to create a short classic Half-Life episode. All the episodes were meant to be combined to one modification. However this never happened because there were too little episodes.”

As the author’s notes make clear, this was part of a larger pack that was never finished. However that should stop you from playing it. It’s very well made and offers some high-quality HL action and exploring. There are plenty of nice touches and detail which all help to give the feel of “just missing the action”.
You get a quick glimpse of the G-man, so stay alert. There are some nice transitions bewteen various areas and I always had the feeling of “I wonder what’s around the next corner!”
– A little too dark in places for my liking.
– The Ending?
– There were two very good set situations
– The dead ends that might have lead some where
– Good balance of action and exploring.
I enjoyed this mod and it is clear the author knows who to create some interesting situations. As always with these types of maps the ending was a little disappointing but considering it was never finished it seems unfair to add that to the negatives.
It’s an interesting little mod and well worth the time downloading and playing.
Wish this had been finished!
(What’s This? )
When I start to play I don`t have HEV suit?????
well this was short but good mod
Andrej I too don`t have hev suit! Have you been?
planetphillip and andrej
what are yours version half life?
I have patch 1.1.1.0.
i also have patch 1.1.1.0
limited play, and short mod
I’m running the latest Steam version.
That seems a little harsh.
I liked it, definitely had that Half-Life feel to it just like the original. A bit short unfortunately with an non-existent story. Very good level design though and good enemy placement. Two really great combat experiences can be found in it too.
Those that had the HEV suit did you find it or start with it? I am playing via Steam and don’t have the suit.
Thanks, Brian
Steam and started with it.
I believe you’re supposed to start with it, at least I did.
Well, I played without steam, version 1110, and didn’t have the suit. Finished it anyway.
I had suit, but I must cheating. Mod is really good, but very short! My note: 4.5/5
Downloading…
Restarted w/different difficulty level got suit! good ending fight scene.
Brian
I don’t use steam and didn’t have the suit, that wasn’t really necessary to provide a good experience but just a little after the start of the third map you go into a really dark vent…and there without the suit and so the flashlight I don’t know what to do…till I die …is it the end?except the “hev problem’,
No, it’s not. If I remember rigth it’s headcrabs. So take your crowbar… There’s more after that.
For the real dark areas I recommend cranking up the gamma (video-options) if you don’t have the suit.
Hey,
I’m the creator of this episode and I never encountered the bug with the HEV suit. You should get it right at the start of the first map.
I only tested it with the latest Steam-version and I’m not able to reproduce this bug.
To all of you who encounter this bug:
Feel free to e-mail me and tell me which version of HL you’re running.
Thanks & a happy New Year!
PS: Glad you like my episode!
I have 1.1.1.0 version Half Life.
fresco, please do more mods, you are excellent modder 😛
I quite enjoyed it, but it was a little tricky in places (even on “Easy”).
Give it a go if you want a quick, fun mod!
uhh im just asking whats the latest HL1 version (Goldsource engine) ?
Because I using version 1.1.1.1 that came up with CS 1.6
The screenshots make it look a little longer than I actually remember it. There were some tight places that increased difficulty, but in a good way. The ending actually isn’t that bad, it has what now is the hl2 logo theme. It’s time very well spent, so give it a try!
Woow short but a lot of actions with the main weapons, aliens and grunts! Just try it!
Great mod. Exellent mapping, tense action and scripted scenes. The only drawback – it’s too short. I demand the continuation! 🙂
Another stunning minimod of Jan Ripper (lolname!), I have to say first that I played his
“Times of Troubles” first but I’m stuck there hehe, nonetheless I have experienced some similarities which are good level design with lot of details.
Yes, I didn’t had the HEV suit at first too but as soon as I picked up some item (dunno if it was a weapon or an HEV battery) I suddenly had the suit (played on medium difficulty)
Pro’s:
-Neat level design
-Pretty nice combat action
-Also nice atmosphere and music and story altho no special story hehe
-Quite good suspense level at the end, meaning a good ending
-Few puzzles
-Semi-secret areas
Con’s:
-Very short
-A bit less variation, in the meaning of enemy types
-Felt like a bit too much closed doors
-Some mean placed enemies
