“The player begins in a hotel lobby looking out into a street filled with zombies. When playing Half-Life 2 I felt the most enjoyable gameplay was destroying zombies with various physics objects. In my final Directed Focus Study I designed a map with this gameplay as the entire focus.”

“This Level was created as a final assignment to show proficiency in various aspects of level design. Zombie Street is a single-player map for Half-Life 2. It combines all of the things I love best about Half-Life 2, zombies, gravity guns, explosive barrels and saw blades. I also attempted to set up several iconic images from various zombie movies. A stairwell filled with mundane items taken from 28 Days later. A chess set on each roof, taken from Dawn of the Dead. Of course the locations could be from any number of zombie movies.”
Copy the “acuff_milestone4.bsp” file into your maps folder of your Half-Life 2 installation. Open the console and type “map acuff_milestone4.bsp”. Press Enter and the map will load.

These types of levels don’t appeal to all players and I generally don’t like them. Whilst I wouldn’t say I loved it, it did keep me playing for longer than I normally play zombie aArenas.
You start in a Hotel lobby and your simple objective is to escape via….arh, wait and see.
In fact it’s very easy to escape without killing one zombie but then where’s the fun in that?
I was a little disappointed not to find fFire barrels and saws since they were mentioned in the authors notes.
My advice is take your time and kill them because you will be rewarded.
The screenshots will show you most of the weapons that you can collect, but collecting them isn’t just a case of finding them, oh no, it’s more than that.
The ending is a little abrupt but I suppose I was expecting too much in that regard.
I’m not giving it a Play It Now! because as I mentioned earlier these types of maps aren’t enjoyable for everybody.
The author has made some maps for others games but since I now only cover HL-series mods I won’t be adding them. Check out her site if you like Q4 and UT2004.
Hey, the saws were removed due to a professor request. (They apparently did not fit the “theme” of the level.) And the fire barrels are only in the area to the left of the hotel (when facing it).In general this level was created as an exercise in making a pretty level that would be a part of a larger whole, so it may not be as fun as a stand alone.
Sorry to be a bit off topic, To Kim, is the level “Mary Celeste” a SP level for Q4??, looks interesting! Haven’t had time to try this one yet.
Thanks for replying Kim! P:
ran through it too short,BUT then went back and tried to kill all the zombies got some more weapons the more I killed till I got the SUPER GRAV GUN awsome being able to pick up and throw zombies fun fun fun
Ugh… zombies.
Well… I expected something great tonight, but I accidentally escaped? I saw some text about a train station, but once I got there it ended so abruptly. I killed like 5 zombies. Maybe play it if you have 3 minutes to spare, but it took me longer to write this than play it..
I was also really disappointed to not see any saw blades.
