    Again, I played this one some time ago and wrote then;
Good game, nice balance of combat between different enemy forms, set design and architecture within good, game flows well sucking you into plenty of action. The ending is stuctured, so many of these smaller mods/maps leave the player wondering if the game is over or not, at least this one tell you “to be continued” but I don’t think it has?

I liked this one too. This one is short and sweet. Nice mapping and fun battles with Combine. No crashes on this one though.

Nice small map, worth a download. I did have one crash when the poison zombie in the basement approached the barnacle. Also, re-entering the warehouse from the armory/supply room to face the fast zombies and combine produced an unintentionally strange spiral effect. Nevertheless, a nifty small map that’s worth a quick play.

  4. Play It Now!

An absolute must play! Small but sweet – delicacies are.
Lots of well placed combat. Nicely mapped with no bugs.
Phillip has not commented but if he had, I’ll bet it would be “WOW’.
    Great map. Great game play.

  5. Play It Now!

Im running out of maps / mods to play I have almost been thru all 98 pages here lol, playing alot of shortys and this is a good one. quick play but plenty of fun and action.

  6. 2muchvideogames

got stuck in the little room adjacent to the one where the weapon stockpile was. The door to the stockpile was locked and I couldn’t get thru.

If you watch my video, you will notice that I seemed to have very low video settings. I really don’t know if this is something to do with my system or the mapper’s fault. I suspect it’s my system.

It’s certainly not a terrible map and it at least tries to move the player through a variety of settings, but in all honesty, the best I can offer it is a MAYBE rating.

There were too many zombies and their placement could have been better, the areas were too dark in my opinion but the gameplay was quite fun.

All in all, a fairly fun 15 minutes and considering it’s from 2005, it wasn’t too bad.

    A Good Oldie

I didn’t expect much, but I did enjoy it. Just getting to the armory was a real challenge.

I did enjoy the combat. The layout wasn’t too bad, but there was only one path.

    Leeches in the vent. Ha-Ha.

It was too dark for the most part. Too many zombies compared to ammo.
It should have not been release until that “hall of mirrors” going back into the warehouse was fixed.

    I had a good time. It’s just a quickie.

  9. Play It Later

Well, for 2005 this is quite impressive, and it’s really interesting to compare early maps like these to something like Transmission: Element 120 and see how far modders have gone.

As for the map itself, it’s short, simple and sweet. The mapping is OK, maybe a bit repetetive with the hallways though. The one thing I didn’t really like was that the enemies were placed pretty close to each other, so you could see huge amounts of enemies glued together.

Overall, this isn’t such a bad map, so if you have 10-15 minutes to spare on a map, then look no further.

    Run under Linux without Problems.
To many zombies for me and too less ammo. I ran out ouf a. completely. So i have to cheat…

  11. Play It Now!

I quite liked this little map! Simple design, nice ambiance, good walkthrough and cool combat.

Only thing I kinda dislike is the placement of the enemies. They feel out of place sometimes, usually, they spawn out of nowhere and behind your back.

Overall, great and fun map to play!

  12. Play It Now!

It’s a fun little map with only one major flaw that I saw – the graphic glitch when you go back to the warehouse after activating the door and getting the weapons. I was little disappointed I couldn’t fight the chopper at the end with the gun on the buggy but overall it was enjoyable.

  13. Play It Later

Another old one, but unlike the Area, this actually had some fair amount of effort put into it.

Gameplay was solid, though the lack of crowbar did irk me a bit, making me feel nervous about my ammo count until you get to the armory. It’s fairly linear in it’s design, but there was a fair amount of detail, though a bit more in the enemy variety could have helped, rather than simply dividing it into “Zombie section then Combine section”.

It could also get quite dark at portions, and it feels like it could have had a more climactic ending or finale, even if it is “to be continued.”

Otherwise, it’s fairly good. Nothing compared to the quality we get nowadays, but still good.

    1. I believe you missed the crowbar. It’s in the room you spawn in.

    Maybe?

A pretty decent romp here. Most of the criticisms I have were echoed above in the previous comments. I didn’t find it terribly dark but there was a zombie section and then a Combine section, ho hum.

I ran into a couple of visual glitches – in addition to the hall of mirrors in the doorway leading to the warehouse, props near the large garage door out of the warehouse kept disappearing from view as soon as I walked about 10 feet away.

Anyway, no major problems in this map – though you also won’t really find any new ideas here. It’s still a nice timekiller for 15 minutes or so if you’re desperate for mods to play.

    Play It Later

Ok so here we have maybe the first “decent” map in this event.

The concept of passing through an industrial facility is a nice element in HL2. And here is well implemented.

Combat didn’t feel linear, but I still think the difficulty is quite high overall on this map.

I had a visual glitch once I get to the armory part. And then the next final battle is nice just before you get the buggy. Though you can perfectly escape the Helicopter avoiding combat against it. So that feels kind of weird and is also strange that the Helicopter behaves more like a gunship.

In conclusion, this was a hard-combat but enjoyable entry perfect for Play it Latter and have some fun.

  16. Personal Favourite

There are some things about the HL2 universe which bug me. One is doors that close by themselves and then some actually lock afterwards – ARGHH!! lol

This map might feature these mechanics but I gotta say that I really… no, REALLY!! loved this map. It’s got an intricate detail about its design which I loved. Plus there’s a few tricks and traps along the way which, like the combine battles, are fun without being OTT in difficulty.

I did pick up on a few niggles but these didn’t really bother me much. Although, near the end, I heard combine approaching so went back inside to restock on health and ammo. The shuttered closed behind me and i had to noclip to go back outside! Ha!!

Just loved this map so much.
In fact, I’m going to play it again!
    🙂

  17. Maybe?

Fun short little map. Some enemy placement could’ve been better, but it didn’t bother me too much.
The whole thing is just fun until the part where the Combine show up. The creator thought it would be a good idea to just throw ten Soldiers at you at once. This part made my opinion go down from Play It Later to Maybe.

  18. I really liked this map. I seemed really well thought out. It was challenging yet not too hard. I do have to say I found a texture glitch. It’s in the large room opposite the door going outside. The open space where the double doors open up gave me a bad effect. I forget the name of it. I don’t know what was supposed to be there but it’s a bad glitch.

  19. Play It Later

Plays and looks good. Glitch at a door near the end “psychedelic dude”. Worth a couple of play throughs.

  20. Play It Now!

Vexko International Is a great early HL2 custom map. It’s got its quirks, but as far as how it plays and looks, it’s pretty fun.

    Story

Gordon has somehow found himself within the offices of Vexko International, a pre-invasion company of unknown purposes, and must find a way out through the labyrinth of hallways and vents, killing zombies that infest the building and making a final escape from Combine soldiers.

It’s a simple premise but it works. It feels like an area that could’ve been in a level of HL2. Otherwise, there’s no extra story that reveals what Vexko is or was, or what purpose the Combine has for it. One nice thing though is that, unlike most of these early custom maps, it has an actual ending to it.

    Presentation

Among these very early custom maps, this is one of the best looking. The hallways and rooms are nicely designed and feel realistic, and the lighting is excellent. All-in-all it’s a great looking map.

There’s no music through most of the mod until the final battle.

    Gameplay

If there’s one way I could describe the gameplay, it’s “hungry for ammo”. Most of the mod will see you pretty tight on your ammo reserves, meaning you need to place your shots more carefully. This is exacerbated by the fact that you don’t get a crowbar or a Gravity Gun, meaning that if you need to open crates or grates to vents, you need to use your precious ammo. It makes for a different gameplay feel as you have to choose what weapons you should be using.

This is further complicated by the level design, which consists for most of the mod of tight corridors and vents where you don’t get much room to maneuver. Thankfully they don’t overwhelm you with enemies in these cramped halls, only a couple at a time, of which most enemies are zombies until the final battle against many soldiers in a larger area.

The gameplay and level design felt very deliberate and thought-out, and it made for a fun and unique experience that I’m not used to in HL2 mods.

    Conclusion

I really enjoyed this map, definitely among the best of these early efforts alongside Das Roboss Highly recommend it.
