Half-Life, Uplink, and more.
Uplinked is a series of eleven maps that aims to be an extension to “Forget About Freeman!”. Uplinked takes place between the original maps, hence it can be started from “Forget About Freeman!” or “Black Mesa Inbound” like the original game. The general premise is the same as the Half-Life demo, Uplink (tune the transmitter to gain access to Lambda Complex). Locations vary from Uplink or Half-Life Alpha inspired to completely original ones. Be aware that Uplinked has more puzzles compared to the original game, therefore might require more thinking.
This was August 2022’s Classic of the Month mod.

fun , had to noclip some parts- the water part left me not swimming only running around the bottom , the crate mover part was a little off as well. but still fun. some puzzles/areas a little vague on what to do.
gave up on it…no idea whatsoever…ah well.
Theres few walkthrough vids @ Youtube if you wanna get some help. Never fun to get stuck for too long.
This one caught me quite by surprise, in a good way. It’s a solid Black Mesa-themed map pack that was a lot longer than I expected. There are a number of well designed puzzles in the pack, although a couple of them were not well communicated (and one used a very cheap clip brush to prevent progress unless you solved the puzzle the “right” way).
My other main complaint was that the pack was overall simply too easy. There was very little challenge combat-wise and as you can tell by browsing the screenshots above I was rarely if ever in a position where I didn’t have a ton of health & armor.
Definitely recommended, but beware of the rough edges that perhaps more thorough playtesting would have smoothed out.

A great map pack although I have to agree with others here that while it was cool to operate a crate moving robot, the pacing was off and that section was much too long.
Whew, finally finished this earlier today. Having problems to give rating for this one.
Mapping was nice, was fun to revisit familiar areas from HL1, OP4 etc. I was surprised to see so much scripted moments, i think i missed some, but im not gonna check this again just to find more.
And then those puzzles. No need to make puzzles too easy, but with this mod i was hoping to get more (little) hints what to do. Its like stop and go, puzzle after another, but not enough intense combat to counterbalance those slow puzzle areas. And for some reason I think i used hornetgun more than ever before.
Extra points for goldsource gravity gun + fighting falcon crashing to building and mainframe computer domino puzzle
I didn’t bother to measure my playtime or take notes while playing, so I can’t provide a real review. But this mod is great! Play it
Absolutely phenomenal little map pack which fits quite seamlessly into the full Half-Life campaign. The entity work on display throughout is utterly fantastic and this is a must play for anyone. It’s not perfect, there are a number of places where the means to progress isn’t always obvious and the loader sequence, while impressive, starts to grate after a while.

I was going to ask for a hint. I was stuck with the walker for 2 days. I had it on the top shelf unloaded and it just would not move forward. I looked at the screen shots and today a walk through. Ah I said I still have the crate on the lift. Then the solution hit me like a crowbar on the head (insert wack thud sound). I have moved forward. Really enjoying the map pack.
Oh, kind of a spoiler (alert) when you have the walker on the second level you can jump to those crates. One in the back is breakable – harpoon arrows.
I certainly agree with all the comments so far, and I also experienced frustrations here and there. I just wanted to say, with all that went into the design of this, the mapper is brilliant!

soy un gran fan de half.life, vine a esta pagina a descargar half life 2 episodio 3 the clousure, pero me tope con este mod, y wow me encanto sus puzzles son muy buenos, simepre quise un mod que alargue algunos mapas del half life, y claro, sin quitar los caminos originales, esto logra hacerlo me encanto 20/10 totalmente GOD
A fun collection of maps that serve as a re-imagining of Half-Life’s demo, Uplink, with the goal of integrating it into the main Half-Life campaign, placing it during the “Forget About Freeman!” chapter. It has great action and cool set pieces. However, in my opinion, it is held back by some of the puzzles that overstay their welcome and bring the pace of the mod to a halt. Overall, still worth the play.

I played the Uplink map pack alone. I can see how much fun this pack would add as inserted into the original HL game.
The puzzles are brilliantly challenging. Hats off to the developers. I hope we can see more from you.
I would love to see something like this but for Opposing Force.
I put 12hrs as I played about an hour or so a day. It’s a best guess.

If your in a fan and ‘know the solution’ it just might be longer than you think.
When the loader will move but not in the way you want it’s because you have not solved the puzzle correctly.
Many many years ago people figured out how to use a weapon in a non standard way. It gives you a lift up. Hint

I loved the mod, but please patch the part where you control the machine that transports boxes, since it is very bugeado, sometimes it doubles and again it shreds the player, it is a bit annoying the truth, but the rest is excellent
An impressive mappack which has the genuine idea of putting the mod in “seamless branching” with the original HL campaign, that is you can either play it as an add-on part of “Forget About Freeman” which somehow connect to the beginning of the map, or do the whole HL campaign with that mappack included in it.
What else to say, this is a very interesting set of maps because they make an over use of “func_vehicle”, I never knew we could do that much in GoldSrc/HL1 with a submarine, a loader, and other stuff…
I’m impressed the dev’ managed to find still new gameplay ideas even if I had to look a few times on the video playthrough.
He even tried to retcon some places such as the Black Mesa room seen in Gman”s episode 2 dreamlike sequence, and uses the final scene of Uplink the original one but in a different way.
A good adventure in Vanilla HL stuff, still with new amazing gameplay and sequences based on “func_vehicle” (func_vehicle func_vehicle func_vehicle…)

Well, playing this mod gave me a strong feeling that Black-Mesa should’ve been even bigger than the original game.
And indeed this could be an interesting experience if you decide to play it from the very first HL map. I only played the newly added maps and that’s it.
But overall my experience was positive and the combat was very intense playing this one.

I played it from the beginning of the game and ita a great addition to a full playthrough. I enjoyed it so much that I’m going to include it in every future full run of the game because it fits so well.
Aome.of the puzzles are tedious but once you figure them out it’s great fun replaying them. I’m thoroughly impressed with the robot/sub part and how creative it is.
Although I think it should have been its own mod instead of trying to be an addition to forget about freeman (wich would be ruined thematically if this mod was always part of the core game) its experimental and imaginative and although slightly criptic at times i managed to beat it without walktroughs and had a good time, definetly a winner for what it is.

This mod is amazing! The fact that it can be played with the original campaign is great. I’ve needed a good reason to replay the original and this got me to do just that. HL1 has felt stake to me because I’ve played it so many times but this mod adds a substantial amount of new content in the form of new maps that fit very well among the original maps. I’ve actually never finished the Uplink demo before so it was nice to have that content put into the main story. The puzzles were great, moat of them anyway. Very creative ideas especially the submarine bit.
The only negative things I have to say are that some of the puzzles felt a bit convoluted, namely the robot section and the part where you plug up the tank to overflow it. I had to look up a guide for that. I knew the robot was pilotable but I didn’t realize to what extent. I would never have guessed where I was supposed to put that first crate even tho the mapper tried to highlight it. As cool as that part is I think it needs a bit more hand holding to figure out the puzzle. After I realized that I had to place the crate the rest was fairly easy to figure out. The part about placing the sub down also confused me for a while. I still think these are great elements but they might need a bit more visual cues to feel at home among HLs many other puzzles.
The section about plugging the tank was less confusing, I didn’t realize I could kill the gargantua at first so it felt impossible. After plugging the first hole it was difficult to maneuver the other crates into into tank. I knew that’s what I had to do but actually doing it was a bit frustrating in 1 foot of water.
Overall this is an excellent addition to the main game and if yoy ever want to play through the whole game again I highly recommend doing it with Uplinked installed!

A very solid old-school mappack with great set pieces and brush work combined with pretty impressive entity use that is very rarely seen in HL mods and very imaginative puzzles. The creator clearly knew what he was doing.
Many ideas are taken and realized from the design documents and cut content. Even some brushes from the alpha are recreated, I stopped and turned back, saying “wait a minute” a couple of times. If HL had the cut chapter as it was once intended, it would be something like this is, only made with ’97, ’98 standarts in mind.

Some of this is really excellent half-life, enjoyed any section that preceded unlocking shortcuts.
But man it does feel a bit unplaytested at parts, and I encountered bugs often that required me to console around them.
A better quality job than I expected when installing the mod, congratulations

Amazing mod right here. Gotta love the immersion of “Uplink” as if it perfectly fits between “Forget About Freeman” and “Lambda Core.” The combat can be tough, the puzzles are fair, mapping is very good at least. Lastly the boss battle which is the same one from Decay but with a different tactic, is also a fair challenge but easy. The mod ends once you head back to “Forget About Freeman.” Because after that, you’re just running a regular campaign.
This is such a good mod! I sorta wish it didn’t try and sandwich itself in the campaign, but that’s alright. The robot puzzle was such a cool and refreshing thing to see in a mod. It was also nice to see the retcon of the gman room from episode 2. A mod I can def recommend to anyone!

Banger Mod!
Meant to be an extension of Forget about Freeman, and sorta a Uplink remake, It is marvelous. The environments are crisp, and the combat, while more spaced out than the average mod, is extremely fun.
Whats interesting about this mod is the fact its puzzle focused. Luckily, the puzzles in this are also great. It usually took me a minute to solve them, and maybe a step or two was silly/obtuse. However, they were always satisfying to solve. The robot/submarine sections is one of the best puzzles I’ve played in a mod. The payoff of riding the sub itself was worth it.
The actual Uplink part was dope to, very interesting take on it. Loved it, crane puzzle was ace.
My only issue is the fact that it tries to be part of the main HL campaign. While the mod is fantastic, I think having be placed during Forget about Freeman, is strange. As with context, FaF is meant to keep up the momentum of Surface Tension’s action packed fights. So i’m not sure have this chapter that is mostly slower paced Puzzles would work. And since its a chapter, the mod doesn’t actually have an ending. Which honestly, I would prefer if it did, rather than being part of the main campaign. I think it works best standalone.
However, overall fantastic mod. Hood classic. Play it.

Pretty great map pack. Combat and puzzles are great and fun. Level designing is awesome, feels as if valve had created them – and I assume some of them are actually made by them but i never played the demo uplink, just this one and signal lost.
The pack can be played with half life campaign and it would not feel out of place at all imo. It’s definitely worth playing.
I don’t remember how much it took me while playing this but it’s about 2 hours i think, and played it at hard difficulty
