Hello April, where have you been all my life?
I plan to map a bit this month, and I might focus on corridors and doors. I’ll add a few maps and mods, plus a few streams. Who knows, maybe even a WHAT THE HEADCRAB! episode.
I’m going away for a long weekend on the 5th until 9th, so there won’t be any updates on the site until after that.
I’ll be talking about a book I read in a comment, when I get back from holiday called Armour by John Steakley – I FREAKING loved it.
What about you? What plans or aims do you have for April?
Each month I create a “General Chat” post for readers to post whatever they want within the limits of being a family-friendly website.
Please don’t post reviews, questions or comments about maps and mods listed on the site – post them on the respective post – all those comments will be deleted. I do this to ensure that when a reader visits a map or mod page, all the information is in one place.
Back in June 2014, I started to use a poster from a classic Sci-Fi movie as the background for the post image.
Starting in June 2016, I started to use images taken from old FPS games.
And for 2017, I started using images from sci-fi books, but from this point forward I will just use a random image from a mod to reduce the time it takes to make the post.
Your task, should you wish to accept it, is to guess the mod. It may or MAY NOT have been released yet – DUN DUN DUH!
This time last month I was looking forward to my holiday and Mass Effect Andromeda… How times change.
Mass Effect was a bust and my holiday is now over. Boooo.
On the other hand, the let down from Andromeda finally pushed me to pick up a copy of Pillars of Eternity on Steam. It’s amazing. It’s a classic RPG meaning that there is a lot of reading in place of cutscenes, but that’s totally fine with me because a lot of the time you are prompted to actually interact within the scene.
I highly recommend it to anybody who likes classic role playing. The turn based combat was the one thing that put me off, but I’m actually really enjoying the tactical side of that as well.
I hope to pick up Tyranny when I get paid this month, and then later in the year I will be putting some money towards Pillars of Eternity 2 to support Obsidian. It seems to be a rare thing that a company actually cares about their customers and their game, rather than just the money.
Well I plan to map. LDA has helped spark some more ideas I want to try.
That, and play the ToxicVille entries. 1 week left!
I picked up where I left off on Fallout 4 again and have been enjoying it more than I thought I would. I think if you get past how disappointing the main story is, the actual exploration and combat gameplay is fun. You end up becoming very self-guided, exploring wherever you want, opting into quests or ignoring them. Bethesda may not be good at overarching stories, but they are good at the twisted, self-contained ones scattered throughout the Commonwealth.
A couple of the SnapMaps I made for Doom got featured on the front page. The second time this happened, I had the sense to link the map to a newer map upon completion, so I can get some residual traffic on that one too.
After a very busy March, April will offer quite a lot more free time for me; a small holiday/vacation is approaching and I’ll probably use the oppertunity to get in my car and drive to a yet unspecified location in central Europe for some days. The summit of the Zugspitze on the border between Germany and Austria is one of the options I’m currently considering for a visit.
And ofcourse, I’ll finish my entry for Toxicville. There’s still a lot of work to be done but I think I can deliver a finished product.
I’ve come to terms with the fact I won’t be playing Mass Effect Andromeda anytime soon. Instead I gave Verdun another try. Even though I am fairly rubbish and spent the majority of my time getting shot, blown up or gassed it was mostly pretty good fun. The biggest issue, common to all online shooters, is the experience massively depends on the other players.
It’s been nearly two months since finishing Escapade, long enough for the pain and frustration it caused to have receded to distant memory. I’m now toying with the idea of building another map for Black Mesa. Maybe.
Finally I’m beginning to appreciate how useful google satellite and streetview are when looking for reference material on building design. A very handy resource for mapping.
Well plan to work hard on mathematic? algebra? (In France it’s mathematics, however I don’t really know for the U.K or other…)
Finishing ToxicVille.
Mapping for fun and for learn. Say hello to old friend…
And continue to go here, for speaking with a marvelous community ! Love you all ?
Well, im plan make a HORROR MAP, aslo i plan buy cs go and flatout 4
whats other?
I aim to make progress with my mapping too but I’m beginning to realize that maybe Half-Life 2 really isn’t my thing. I do like the game but the original has always taken a softer spot in my heart. Maybe it’s because of the lack of total overhauls there, who knows?
I popped in for a couple minutes at Left 4 Dead 2’s SDK but there’s no way I’m touching that yet. Not until I release something a tad simpler.
As for the book I might start reading it too. Saw it once but wasn’t fully decided at the time. Thanks for reminding me of it !
