This is the demo of the unfinished mod.
The first section sets the scene and you even get to “play” as Gina, Gordon’s Sister.
The second section is all action, with some puzzling solving required.

FANTASTIC MOD!
Unfortunately, its been discontinued. All we get is this demo.
Well done mod.I had to use noclip once when a door I believe should have opened and didn’t.At first I thought there weren’t going to be any bad guys and then bam a level change and bad guys every corner.
Very good mod for a demo.you have to think and plan to get through the rooms and defeat the enemy without too much damage.I didn’t have to noclip but was tempted to in a couple of spots. The mod ran smooth no crashes.
At times I started rushing through the game
and in no time I was down to little or no health or stuck.I tried their website to see if there is more mods in development but couldn’t find it.
A game of two halfs, 1st half wandering around not doing much, 2nd half all go. Combat gets very hard
This has the “honour” of being the mod I dislike the most. I’m sorry, but I just hate it. I can accept buggy, because it’s a demo, although, really it should be called a beta because demos should never be buggy. That’s like given away trial shampoo that burns your scalp!
Even putting aside the plain mapping and the bugs, the fact I had Gordon speaking for me on the screen, Gordon gets a sister, which we even get to play as for a bit, I still hate it.
I broke my own rules by adding a recommendation image when I haven’t finished the mod because I COULDN’t finish the mod.
I got stuck in so many places that I had to noclip too many times to remember.
I was stuck in the red room and I still don’t know how I was supposed to leave that room and the next room with the five buttons didn’t seem to lead anywhere either. It was at that point I gave up.
From the other comments, the action, once it starts, is quite good, but playing maps and mods, should be frustrating like this. I prefer to be in a room with a crowbar and one headcrab than have to spend all my time looking for exits.
I honestly believe you should avoid this mod and wait for something else.
Wow, this has own little cut scene in the beginning. Extra points for that.
But all the mapping… There’s no little details, boring and empty rooms and hallways. Just not enough things to do, all the action starts after that red room. But I was so bored already.
Phil, there is crowbar in that red room.
Finally!

Really! Where?
Okay, found it. It’s location is as bad as the mod itself.
Yeah, this isn’t worth checking out. The author claims that this is a demo and as such is unfinished but one would expect that a demo would be fully playable throughout and that’s nothing that can be said here.
Basically everything is wrong with this, it’s either mediocre and bad to downright abysmal. The level design is awkward and stupid with some really odd texturing; overall, in terms of looks, it’s not terrible but it’s not anything out of the ordinary or generally anything good looking with unnecessarily long and tedious hallways with almost no detailing whatsoever. The lighting in a few areas are fairly average but for the most part it’s really bad with many rooms looking like they’ve been compiled with full-bright lighting in mind.
The combat is arguably the stronger point but that’s not necessarily a good thing in regards to this. From a normal difficulty perspective the challenge level is very high and requires a lot of quick saving due to the fact that you’re not always rewarded with goodies between combat and that’s it’s essentially a grunt fest throughout with a few black ops assassins thrown in towards the end.
One gameplay flaw I discovered near the beginning is that you encounter a attack helicopter with a RPG launcher nearby. Problem is, you can’t destroy it if you’re playing on any difficulty above easy. This particular area isn’t very hard due to the tall buildings providing cover but it’s a fatal flaw on the author’s part in that providing a weapon for the player but not enough ammo to destroy a specific enemy.
A few other annoying issues I had was that you didn’t start the pack with an H.E.V. suit even though we clearly see Gordon running through a hallway with the suit on in a cutscene.
It’s also not always clear what you’re supposed to do like pressing a button somewhere disclosed suddenly opens a door far away.
The level transition is also sloppy with you going through a hallway towards a door, greeted with a loading screen, and suddenly you’re in a completely new hallway beyond that door.
This isn’t recommended at all even if you’re desperate for something to play. Wait for something worthwhile instead.
Wow, this mod completely imploded after you lose all of your weapons for the second time.
First of all I really enjoyed this mod up until the point where you are stuck in a type of prison and the Barneys break you free. Afterwards it was just glitches and poor map design. First of all, the thing that annoyed me the most was that during the part where you take a lift from the roof there seems to be no way out unless I missed something. On top of that the whole lift area and the doors that could be opened were badly made and you could easily get killed. Also once you lose your weapons the first time you get no crowbar and must shoot boxes with a weapon. The Barneys that break you free are also very useless too as they can glitch and not shoot the enemies that they are supposed to. It just seriously went downhill after that point which is a shame. Before the prison thing the 5 buttons that only seem to activate from a certain angle and the Apache that could force you to noclip if you use too much ammo were the only downsides.
The combat was way too easy, although there were some pretty good battles, namely the one outside with the Barney. Overall the gameplay was fun. The secret 357 and crossbow (not the first one, the second one) which are reskinned as a magnum and a sniper rifle respectively were pretty nice to find although I found both by complete accident because I was stuck on where to go next.
Starts off fun and then goes horribly wrong. If I missed the way out and there was a crowbar I’ll give this higher.
Ok Phillip I won’t say anything you’ll edit out, but that doesn’t stop me thinking it! The clean version of what I’m thinking is this is a mod NOT to play!!
if a door has a button beside it, its not unfair to think it opens the door or at least does something or am I missing something? You get at least two keycards but they don’t work?
I could say more but it would just repeat the other negative reviews, but are we all missing something as the pre 100 reviews are all positive?
I’m on the second map and this pack is already irritating me. I’m stuck in the outside area with a castle-type building. There seem to be a bunch of buttons I can hit but they all make the same sound and none of them light up when I hit them. If I go for the rocket launcher an Apache comes and I can’t down it with one measly rocket. Help?
Well made it past that (didn’t see the power button that looks like a power light). Might review later if I can find the patience to keep going.
Ugh, I’ll not spend much time writing about this mod. It was terrible.
Well I got real close but couldn’t find how to finish this pack. I did spot one of the issues, though: “Level Designer, Andy Hulatt” (from Assault on Roswell fame). I hit a button in that area that told me another door just opened, but no doors seemed to have opened. Ah well close enough.
Stay away from this one, for the reasons given by the other reviewers. There’s little good and nothing fun about this pack, demo or not.
Ok so my eyes are burning right now because im just adapting to my new glasses, and with this mod atempt or abomination, my eyes want to get out running out of my head!!!, I mean that’s the sensation after playing this I think, the begining part is a totally mess, and I agree with Phillip in the sense that this couldn’t be called a “demo” in a million years!!!; could it be propper conssider as a beta or even lower than that maybe an alpha verssion and maybe the standard of “alpha” is so high for this work. I have the felling that the topic is ok, and could develop a cooler mod but untill is so polished!!, I mean I think the project is just too ambitious to became a succesfull mod and that’s the reason why we have a really lost mod here with no hed or legs I mean is just a bunch of maps bad layed out and in a rush to publish, sorry but I think developers shouldn’t do this kind of really unfinished mods and get’em out just like that!!, no sir, at least do a respectable beta if you are in such a rush!!
The only cool things about this work, were the sniper riffle so wasted”!”, and the desert eagle in place of the magnum, oh also the new shotgun sound was ok, but I think that’s all, even have some battles but with a really disproportionated difficulty, in the last parts with those assasains and the grunties…..
Another mod to play if u dear, and forget in a snap!!!
We start to play as Gordon Freeman, who, as the on-screen text says, gone crazy after the failed experiment and is hallucinating aliens. After that we find ourselves in some expressionless rooms with brick walls. What’s this place? I didn’t care, I just rushed to the exit, and there was a helicopter and only one rocket. The author either hid the other ones very well or he don’t acknowledge any other skills than “Easy”. The gameplay in the mod’s last levels made me think that my second suggestion is right.
I started to notice, that there are funny jokes.
When saving game, it says “Good that you saved it at last” and there is a cutscene “don’t smoke near the petrol or you’ll smoke with it”
But there won’t be any more jokes.
There’s a part when we play as Gordon’s sister Gina. It is excellently realized. There are diary and a cutscene which convince us that we play as her.
Then we return to Gordon and fight soldiers. We go through some rooms, I didn’t like the design. At some point we’ll see a new sky, which was created with Terragen, in low quality render mode.
Some Vlokam-like boredom starts here. The design is not pleasing, gameplay contain baseness like crowds of enemies, mined medkits and necessity to search for another opened door.
Forgive me for all sorts of grammatical errors, because I’m from Russia and I know English not very good.
I want to give one recommendation: do not play in this mod. Not for the reason that he is bad, no. There’s quite low average mapping and very good scripting. However, it is boring. And confused. Moreover, its complexity is poor, all the battles going very easy. Nothing more to say about it is not desirable. Just think twice before you start.
What
Having a strange feeling about this mod… it’s not bad, to point that out at first!
Many things are different compared to “usual” HL-universe mods here.
This includes new or modified sounds, a very interesting and unusal story with cutscenes and text messages, plus a very nice mix of puzzles and combat in well-mapped surroundings.
About the story:
We play Gordon Freeman and his sister Gina (!), you believe that Aliens will invade Earth and your sister tried to help you, altho she has doubts about what you’re saying at first…
For not spoiling too much of the story just play the mod and it will become more clear.
What was surprising to me was that the “intro” took so long, even tough it’s not mentioned as intro. (spoiler) Intro stole me 30 minutes! 😉
The real game starts when you read the obligatory introduction into the mod.
Besides that, it’s strange it’s called “demo” at the end as the playtime is quite long!
The things I liked most was the story with the cutscenes and messages, some awesome scripted events and the pretty cool mix of action and puzzles.
Mapping could’ve been done a bit better as lighting is often weird and design is often undetailed and boring (textures). However, it also is quite impressive at same spots.
With cool architecture, new textures and good design it’s above average in total I’d say.
But there are also a few design flaws like an instant death script, etc. Here and there a few bugs, just reload the last save then.
At some spots it can be confusing for a while because you may not know what to do.
So you have to think about finding a way to proceed or maybe push a button again to open a new door.
There’s quite much music being used here, also some ambient loops which generates some atmosphere to the mod. Many sounds sound nice, weapon sounds have been changed mostly and there are a few new crosshairs if I’m right.
I guess I missed some goodies and/or weapons as after the
ambush
I couldn’t find a new crowbar, so I was shooting or blowing up all crates after that.
All in all, PFN was very enjoyable, but I just can’t give it a higher rating than “play it later”.
If someone needs help to progress just reply below and I’ll give you a hint.
Playtime: 90 minutes
I like this mod on the whole, but some parts of gameplay were boring enough for me (especially in the beginning) and some other were annoying enough because of heightened difficulty of the combat (especially in the end). Also I don’t like to be forced to play a decent part of a game without suit and/or crowbar. All “puzzles” are not so hard and can be passed without cheats, but some doors are really too far from the buttons that opening them.
Thank you for a really nice write up about my MOD.
When I made this I did have intention to remap it all, but as time went on I decided to release it early than 1st expected. Why as life got in the way and that came 1st.
Yes there are a lot of hidden weapons, ETC.. But I wanted to make a game as if it was real to the player as it would of been if you where in the game. Not set out as look over there your find it in that box, other than trying to find your ear pods in your home.
To many people where saying add ons, mods, etc where to easy. So I made it harder and they still complained. My intro was a little longer then I wanted it to be. But after making the music I wanted you to hear it.. LOL
Sorry there wasn’t any walkthrough, but you either worked out the puzzles or give up.
Cheers
