I loved this.
I don’t know where the textures come from or if they have been stolen from another game (Doom 3, maybe?) but what I do know is that the author knows how to create spaces that feel natural. Create gameplay situations with just a turret and some desks. And makes look great.
I have no idea how I missed this release but I am so glad I have added it now.
The amount of actual fighting was quite short and but it was pretty intense.
Besides the slightly silly ending, this is a quality piece of work and highly recommended.

I think that silly ending, indeed could be the perfect opening to a bigger mod sequel, I hope the author consider to do and release someday.
The readme that comes with it could be edited to be according to steampipe.
I don’t make any changes to original files with the author’s permission. The correct installation details are on the post, so I am not too worried.
Phillip, your Manual Installation Instructions says: Open the console and type so_miningcomplex and press ENTER, insted of “sp_miningcomplex”
Thanks, I’ll update it now.
Yeah, a pretty decent quick map. It was fun to play and generally it looked great. It got a bit strange and directionless towards the end lots of stuff happening but I had no idea what I was doing. Combat was a good difficulty, hard enough to be engaging but not so hard to be frustrating. There was one instance near the beginning where I didn’t really know where I was going (just after the zombine section and there’s a fan puzzle that had some misleading visual language but other than that solid effort. The end was very odd, I don’t know if that was setting up for a sequel but if this was the end end it kind of felt like it came out of nowhere, press the button to fix the majigger BOOM! mission complete.
Also Map tap is pretty neat.

Really nice little map. Great looking visuals and pretty balanced gameplay. It had a real Doom vibe to it which I think was intentional. It got pretty tough when you first got to the Armory and didn’t have a weapon until you got inside. The ending was a bit of a letdown, but this was overall very good. I would love to play a full mod done in the same style.

No Map Tap Direct Download available for this release???????
I have decided that any file over 25MB won’t have a Direct MapTap download. It’s an administrative decision. Whilst users could copy the folder and save it to their HDD, it’s better if they download it separately.
OK is fine, I downloaded it and, anyway I use Map Tap to install it. Thanks
I agree with everyone else here, this is a cool little map that looks different from the normal HL2 stuff! It only seems a little bit unfinished due to the stupid ending and I guess some of the textures were taken from Portal, like the frosted glass.
I guess there’s only one word to define this map, and that’s “beautiful”. Really, the place is just a beautiful art piece, the textures are so nice and neat, and yeah, you really feel like you’re in a mars station, definitely you’re not on the earth anymore, so do quick the task you’re assigned to.
The atmosphere-environment in the map is also pretty intense, and although you’re alone looking for answers in that mars station, you never feel alone, I mean that’s just a kind of spooky feeling that always someone is observing you each step that makes this mod pretty cool in gameplay immersion feeling terms.
Now, for me the recommendation is a PN because I’d like to know more about the story of that place, I think this little release is perfect to introduce a bigger mod, and I hope someday the author of this quality map decide to do it. You know, I’d love to know more about why those zombies just devastated the station and things like that.
Overall this is indeed a great quality mod I hope you play because it has a very deep atmosphere and a lot of entertaining value, also if you like zombie battles, you’re going to like this.

Another great map … straight away there was something different about “mining complex” .. and it had the feeling of “doom3” and “quake4” about it … as phillip said theres some unique textures here that work well with this map
normally i wont give personal favourite for a map however i think “mining complex” deserves it …. if the author can expand on this map and make a full mod then that would be great, and i will be the first to download it
this map shows how well you can use the source engine .. and hopefully it wont be long before valve release a new engine which should allow for a whole new type of mods and maps
overall a extremely enjoyable map ..well done !

I think I’ve played this in the past, but I can’t be sure. It’s a great map and very professional looking. Textures are amazing and the sky is good but a more real Mars sky would have been nice, and so easily available now!
Combat is vicious, zombines when you are weaponless! Scary and not fun! I had to run away and die before I stumbled on weapons on the third try!
On the replay used the console to set ‘sv_gravity 200’ for a more Martian like gravity. Set it to ‘150’ and you can jump the gap, not mind it!
However you play it this is a good little map and visually gorgeous. Oh for a mod set on Mars with Martian physics!

Question… is it so hard to fix a node graph out of date msg ^_^
Ok, so we finally get a map with an objective. This one is filled with neat custom textures and most of the lighting seems to come from glowing textures, which is pretty cool.
What I don’t understand is the fact that the building I’m in looks combinesque on the outside, tho the teleport was started by Kleiner.
Interesting enough the flickering light does not hurt fps, though there was 1 huge drop to 40 later on after taking the elevator.
I particularly liked the lighting effect of the spinning vent blades, it’s small and can go unnoticed so author didn’t have to do it but did it anyways, nice attention to detail. Puzzled by the big vent that makes the spinning noise but doesn’t actually spin heh. Oh and the monitor showing what the button does, while few use it, is not needed here since we can actually see the result through the window, nice of the author to make sure we get it.
The map overall is linear and not much gameplay, mostly exploring around in awe.
Not sure I enjoyed the ending, it appears I suicide in the mining complex because the connection took too long to establish? Awesome!

No, but it requires some code changes and it’s on the list.
Excuse me?
It was a question addressed to authors in general and from what I recall it’s something trivial like zipping the .ain file along with the .bsp.
Sorry, I thought you were talking about MapTap.
Visually stunning, so impressive that if there was no combat i could have wandered around and been pleased. The problems were the ending and all the ammo obtained without corresponding weapons. Not a personal favorite but well worth playing.

Loved this, real feeling of space and detail particularly later on, this would be a great mod if a bit longer, not much of combat challenge but not a criticism I enjoyed the exploring and storyline. Combat might not have fitted anyhow, what do I know?
On that note it needs to be said, I think anyone who makes the effort to create and donate a map or mod for others enjoyment deserves a huge thank you, particularly through this HL drought, whether it is good or bad is largely personal preference, no one would set out to make a bad map or mod and any shortfalls can only improve with experience and feedback.

Nice little map, a 15 minute romp for me. Visuals really stand out here. Ambience was ok, but I would of liked some wind sound or something in the glass tunnels on Mars…anything but quiet. That would of added some zestiness and a nice chill factor to the atmosphere.
Blue sky on Mars? Hmm…I thought it was supposed to be a red sky?
A few places you had to figure out where to go, not too hard. Enemies are mainly fast Zombies, and 3 or 4 Zombine.
Wind tunnel is a nice touch. But the game was short with not a lot of enemy action compared to the ton of ammo you get.
Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice mod with some real thought put into it, and I do recommended it to download and play. But no hurry.

OH MY GOD, PLAY THIS MAP RIGHT NOW!
The atmosphere is amazing, the textures are also amazing, combat was cool and the mapping was stunning! If this is what someone can do to a single map, imagine if a mod like this was released.
STILL STANDING HERE? GO PLAY THE MAP!
First of all custom textures/models are amazing ı loved them. You could add a custom space skybox it would give a good vibe. You could done a lot with that map ı hope we will see more of these kind of map 🙂

Looks great. Play… not so much. Huge dead areas that look great but are boring. Peppered in are tones of zombies. Worth one play through.

Love the visuals of the map however it feels so lifeless, don’t count the zombies and the combat is pretty much bland except for the turret part. Should’ve add more NPCs in it other than just zombies and the ending is kinda anticlimactic. You could’ve add a boss or a gauntlet or something. I’m gonna give this a “Play Later”
This map is really interesting to look at, but gameplay is lacking. I really recommend you play it if you are on this page. It’s only about 14 minutes long.
Usage of space and world brushes: 8/10
I strongly felt like I was on mars. The otherworldly feeling I got is what really made this mod memorable. I loved the angles and usage of space.
Visuals 7/10
HOWEVER, it’s very empty. It could be tighter with a lot more details. The visuals were pretty basic for source. I’m not entirely sure how, or if, PCC was handled here, but the reflections were very nice to look at.
Gameplay: 5/10
Gameplay is very basic. Shoot some fast zombies. Press like 2 buttons and you’re done.
Final Score: 20/30 – 60%
Final Comments: Play it now only because of how cool it looks in some spots.
