The author sent this to me yesterday and I am so glad he did. Makes me wonder how many other maps that are worth playing are sitting on modders hard drives.
I like how you start with very little view but walking along gives you this cool scene, with the bridge, river and windmill.
The fighting was pretty hard but nothing I struggled with. You need to explore and work your way around all the areas until you find yourself in the ruins.
There is only one image of that in my screenshots because there is a surprise waiting for you.
Definitely worth playing, even if it only takes you 15 minutes to play.
Very nice. Good layout and design. Provides variety in possible battle techniques. Fun!!
😀 Great Combat Fun 😀
Only one minus. If you go where you shouldn’t – instant death. Not good.
The rest, lovely.
As ebsiman says “Provides variety in possible battle”, and he’s spot on.
In Hard – it’s brilliant
My admiration to you SNDXR.
I’m off for another go.
It’s good, but far from perfect. For instance, I had combine soldiers coming through the walls of the windmill, while other combine completely ignored me, turning to face a blank wall instead! On the plus side, health was plentiful and there was always just enough ammo. I also admired how the map crammed plenty into such a small space by having it on two planes and looping back on itself.
The best thing about this map is its beautiful scenario. The Windmill looked great, and the ruins at the end looked great too.
Though I do have some nitpicks such as the Windmill having to be disabled, but it didn’t look enabled for me on the outside.
The Combine battles were nice, but not fantastic. I liked the parts with the Hunters, and the small sniper scene provided a short stealth part.
If you want a short map with good gameplay and a good scenario, get it. If you’re expecting a fantastic masterpiece from the gods, don’t get this. It’s nice, it’s short, it’s fun.
That’s all.
Great short map 10 minutes of good gameplay, just the right amount of ammo & health to beat the last scene on normal.
Good sweet views, nice fluid and dynamic combat, the ruins ambush was a good ending, altough I think the map was kind of short, I also like the ???????? at the end and the elements of suprise snipers and ???????? gave to the game play!, i’d like to see a complete mod of this developer!
I added the ???????? to maintain the surprise. – Phillip
LOL, ok sorry if I spoil the surprise, ok so u see folks lets play it to discover those “????” signs 😉
This was one of those challenging short maps that you will want to play again. Some deadly surprises here and there. You get a nice complement of weapons and an opportunity to use all of them. The final battle was the best. You could either run-and-gun or shoot from cover.
Definitely a PIN, very nice map despite the shortness of it. Well designed, looked great, good battles and surprises. I’d like to see much more from this developer.
This was fun! I did note some of the combine showing through the wall of the windmill as stated in the other review but other than that it was action packed, esthetically pleasing with lots of little surprises to make you “jump for your mouse”
It was an average experience, so I appreciate how brief it was. It didn’t run very smoothly for me, and the Combine do walk through the windmill, but those things didn’t really hamper the mod for me.
I dunno what to say about this one. This mod is pretty good, but it was short, and not much type of enemies. Also with the light textures on this map, it messed up my EP2 game, I’d have to restart the game in order to get stuff right. Overall good mod.
Short but a magnificent setting. I wish there Will be longer mod’s in “natural” settings like that. I’m getting sick of destroyed and wastelands…
It’s all about fights and gameplay.
Woops, I forgot my review. A PIN for the setting and the good fights.
Not much time to admire the sets or design once you embark on the mayhem. Engagement is tough and you will need to think through a few sequences before fighting your way to the end.
For the die hard Combat loves.
I had a few manhacks get stuck outside the level architecture. I must say that the only bit of this map I truly enjoyed was the finale; in the rest of it, the 11-day timeline shines through. I don’t doubt that if the author spent a bit of time polishing up the level, it would be absolutely fantastic.
Great environment! Great fights! Okay story. Way too short. And finally, lighting is all messed up. The messed up lighting affects the whole game unless you reset the game.
I’m sorry, this mod is a nice attempt, but it is just a “not too good” mod. The map archetecture feels thrown together for the sake of making the game…many areas make little sense at all. Almost no ambeince at all, (background sounds or wind noise) which seems to be a common fallacy of modders. And ambience is VERY important for “atmosphere”.
The worst part for me is how the game is poorly optimized, as even my old but powerful system was hollering and framerates took a dive. To sum up, it is worth trying if your a big fan of the modder. Otherwise, think twice.
*Forgot to rate derp*
This is another short but good map. I really like the setting, it really feels like the combine set up a small outpost in the countryside. The architecture is interesting too. There’s a shed, a building, a windmill and some ruins. For some reason you have to turn off the windmill to progress, I don’t really know why but it’s nothing to complain about. The enemy placement is alright, there are some Combine Soldiers, some Manhacks and some Combine Elites. The shed is filled with Soldiers but pays off because it gives you a lot of ammo. The building has some Elites and a Hunter. The final battle didn’t really have me “running and jumping for my life” like the description said it would (it’s just three Hunters) but it’s pretty fun fighting them in the ruins. Overall, I would most certainly say it’s worth playing even though it’s short.
