This mappack goes to show that there are still some gems waiting to be found or re-found in this case.
The design and layout is pretty solid with plenty of places to explore, buttons to press and enemies to kill.
The author continues to group too many enemies together and his design can often be too symmetrical for my liking, but I can’t deny that I really enjoy his corridors!
All in all, this is another release that is well worth your time.
Go enjoy it.
BTW, I highly recommend using MapTap to install this and if you get stuck, check out my video playthrough.

Thanks for having the video walkthrough. I didn’t think I needed to backtrack like that after turning off the track power and running into the same damage triggers you did.
Thanks Philip! Is the green highlited map in Maptap the start map?
Seems to be the right map.
Having a repeating problem, the map is frozen and cannot be restarted, either by the latest save or the previous one. Very unusual.
I’m about 5-6 minutes into the game. Before I delete everything and try installing again, is anyone else experiencing problems like this, ie; could there be something wrong with the game? By the way, I’m using MapTap (which is great!). A “late convert”.
Well there have only been 2 reviews but 89 downloads, so it’s hard to know if other people are having trouble. Are you using Steam or WON? Have other Half-Life maps worked recently?
I wondered about the lack of reviews too. I’m using Steam via MapTap. Yes other maps have worked, and this one did too up until it froze. I’m thinking a file could have become corrupted on a save or a video freeze while saving.
I didn’t mean that. It’s not unusual to have 1 review for every 100 downloads.
It could be something to do with your system rather than the map, but it’s most likely something like you suggest.
Thanks Phillip, I just downloaded it again and will start from the beginning.
Fingers crossed.
This was a truly a lost gem!
This is the same modder who also made Operation Myrrh and Project Einstein, which I think were decent, but this mappack is his best.
The combat still needs more attention, though. It’s the same as his other maps, enemies coming in packs, which is kinda annoying.
Though, the rest of the mod is absolutely great. The presentation, the mapping, the architecture, they’re all great. Also, I LOVE the train sequences. 😀
Overall, I know you could be a bit disappointed with Kane, but play this mappack and think again! 😉
This is definitely an improvement over the last few from this author. As per his usual, the environments are pretty neat, but the combat and exploration flow are… well, problematic.
It was however much more straightforward in most ways, though I did have to god-mode through bits because with 11 health left and zero lighting, ambushes tend to kill you over and over and over.
At this point, it’s pretty clear that Kane has a good grasp on most aspects of modding, though I did manage, I think, to break several triggers. The extended tram ride down into that little canyon? Was it meant to be where you fought off a couple Controllers and such? Because I killed them from the ledge, and came back to a very long, very boring tram ride a few minutes later.
Overall though, a fun mod. I didn’t have trouble with any technical issues during the game play, any reason I had to use cheats or back out and reload were primarily my own doing and not really because it was ‘broken’. I installed manually as I usually do, though. Worth playing, and can be pretty challenging in places.

Hey guys.
I had the same problem as dougjp.
I’m not using MapTap (manually installed the maps instead), and after the metro crashed in the first map, I just killed a bunch of soldiers and then my 2 quicksaves would result in a black screen.
Damn shame…
(sorry about the other message)
That’s strange. Try using MapTap and see if that helps.
I’m having the same problem again after a fresh install. I’ve tried playing the game 3 additional times. (MapTap install). Freezes at random points. The game will play from the beginning after it freezes and I exit and start everything up again. It just won’t load any of the two F6 saves. I’ve checked the intregity of the HL Steam cache files, no problem there. Next I will try some different screen resolution and will report back.
Same problem with a different screen resolution. I noticed several of the freezes happened when hitting ESC, however that isn’t the only time.
I didn’t enjoy this one quite much, I think it was because of many bugs I experienced, specially at the beginning I was unable to re launch the mod once I got killed in the first map, so I had to start everything again, that was a very annoying bug. Also as Maptap doesn’t seems to work for me anymore I had to install it manually so I guess that’s why I had so much trouble.
Besides the prior, I think that, although the overall mapping is good, the author uses backtracking a lot and that sometimes can give you many confusion times, so that really sucks. The battles were OK against xenians and Grunts, but sometimes were there to overwhelm the player and that’s also another turn down point.
The story seems to be interesting but as text is in some eastern European language and not in English is totally useless and the finale is just very poor.
Yeah, I think I give it a PL because definitely this is better than many lousy HL1 maps you may find, and I guess if Maptap works for you, then you may enjoy this one.

Huh? Looks like the example video is Big Lolly’s Classic of the Month for some reason.
Thanks, fixed. For some reason Phillip had linked it to the Classic of the Month playlist.
I’m not sure if this is in etiquette for a site that features the last 5 comments to stoke discussion, but I’d like to say thank you very much!
